Pal (La Massana) Ski & Snowboard School

The Vallnord – Pal Arinsal resort has two alpine skiing and snowboarding schools, one in Pal and the other in Arinsal. More than 200 accredited and multilingual instructors teach classes according to the level and type of skier or snowboarder. From a beginner, making their very first tracks on snow, to an expert who wants to hone their technique or explore and enjoy all the runs and secret corners of the resort in depth. Lessons are available as private or group classes according to your particular needs and preferences.

Beginners and intermediate levels of all ages can start out in the winter sports of skiing, snowboarding or freeride.

Experts will have the chance to perfect and improve their technique, whilst the most veteran will have access to Vallnord’s best specialist technical advice.

Vallnord also has nurseries, snow gardens and children’s circuits throughout the resort so that children can enjoy their ski days’ and fun in the snow.

Vallnord consists of two connected sectors, Pal & Arinsal which covers up to 63km of pistes. In the 2 centres they have + 200 instructors who share their expertise in the world of snow and mountains, as well as their skiing knowledge.

Group Lessons - Children & Adults

The meeting points for all ski schools is at the top of the La Massana Gondola. You will be directed to one of the posts across from the ski school to meet your instructor.

Private Lessons

You will need to proceed to the ski school office at the top of the gondola to check in for your private lesson and you will be then directed to wait at a post number for your instructor.

Snow Garden/Peke Park/Kinder Class

Please check in a the ski school at the top of the La Massana Gondola and you will be directed to the Peke Park.

Baby Club

The meeting point is at the Baby/Club Nursery which is art the top of the La Massana Gondola

Children 1 to 5 years old

Snow Garden/Peke Park

Snow Garden is for children aged 4-5 years. It's a dedicated area for children to have an introduction to skiing in a fun environment. Snow garden runs the same time as ski school

Baby Club

Baby Club is for children aged 1-4 years. This is a creche for the little ones, activities include playing with toys, painting, story telling and videos. Baby club needs to be booked direct with the ski school.

My child was in snow garden last year and is ready to ski out of the garden now, can they join the group lessons?

Children aged 4 & 5 will begin at the Peke Park/Snow Garden and progress out of the garden if the instructor feels they are ready.

Does the snow garden start and finish at the same time as ski school?

Generally the Snow Garden runs the same time as the ski & snowboard school.

My child is 3 years old but not ready to ski, what are my childcare options?

In Pal they have a Baby Club which is a creche for children aged 1 to 4 years and they are looked after indoors and do activities such as painting, story time and videos.

How do I book my child in to the baby club?

Baby Club has to be booked directly with the ski school, you can either contact them in advance or book whilst in Resort.

Children 6 to 11 years old

Group Lessons

Fun and interactive group lessons with children of similar age and ability. Mid week classes are either 12 or 15 hours and begin on a Monday. Weekend ski school can also be booked for Saturday & Sunday.

Private Lessons

Private lessons can be booked for a minimum of 2 hours for up to 6 people. A great way to learn and get focused tuition from one of Vallnord's expert instructors.

What day is the start day for group ski lessons in Pal?

Weekly 4 & 5 Day Lessons start on Mondays - we also have 2 day Weekend lessons starting on Saturdays.

Will my child be with other children the same age?

The ski school will always try to group ages and abilities together the best they can.

Does the ski school for adults and children begin and end in the same place?

Yes, the meeting point is the same for all groups

What if my child is struggling to keep up with the group?

It all depends on the amount of children they have in ski school but generally there is always room for movement in classes.

Do children get a certificate at the end of the week?

In the mid-week classes there is a little race on Friday which is free for the children to enter and the instructor will issue a certificate on the Friday just before the lesson finishes.

What is the maximum number of children in a group?

The maximum number of children in a group is 12 children

Adults

Group Lessons

Adult group lessons run for either 12 or 19 hours and begin on a Monday. A great way learn to ski/snowboard, improve your technique, see the mountain and meet new friends.

Private Lessons

Private lessons can be 1 to 1 or up to a maximum of 6 friends. A great way to improve your skiing or snowboarding with the focus all on you. A quicker way to learn & improve.

What day is the start day for group ski lessons in Pal?

What time is the ski school in Pal?

The group ski & snowboard lessons have two shifts on busy weeks or just the morning shift if they aren't too busy.

AM shift- Monday to Friday 10-13
PM shift – Monday to Friday 14 to 17

Can Adults and children be in the same class?

The child age in Pal is up to 15 years and the instructors try to put similar age groups together. Adults and Children have different learning styles so they are best in groups with their own age group.

Can I join a group on the Tuesday or Wednesday?

The group ski school and the splitting of group lessons begins on a Monday morning so normally the ski school won’t let you join mid-week.

What is the maximum number of students in a group?

The maximum number of students is 12

How does ski school know which group to put me in?

When you check in you will asked how much you have skied before and you will then you will do a ski off(a little test so the instructor can watch you and allocate you with the other of same ability)

Private lesson for children are fun and interactive with a 1 on 1 more focused learning and catered to the child's personal needs.

Private lessons can be booked for 1 person or for up to 6 friends. The lessons are focused on your personal learning and what you want to gain from the class.

Can I choose the instructor I want to have?

You can ask for a particular instructor and we can check when they are available.

Is there a minimum number of hours I need to book?

The minimum hours is two and the lessons begin at 9am through to 3pm being the last lesson.

Can we have a private lesson as a family?

You can book an instructor for the family but adults and children have different learning styles so sometimes difficult for the instructor. Also if you have a mix of abilities it will be difficult for the instructor to focus on any area in-particular.

How many people can we book a private lesson for?

6 people is the maximum in a private lessons with one instructor. It's best that you are all of similar ability.

How much are private lessons?

The prices of the lessons depend on the hour and how many people so please contact us for a quote.
